The Humble Memorial of William Chapman,
Postmaster General of Hong Kong, and Justice of the Peace of the same and its Dependencies -
Humbly sheweth,
That Your Memorialist has been upwards of Seven Years in the Public Service; Two, under the Board of Public Works in Ireland, and upwards of Eight Years in Hong Kong, the effects of which Climate have, through Paralization of his left side, reduced him to the painful necessity of seeking Retirement from the Public Service upon superannuation.
